"The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" by Barbara Robinson
Mills Community House Association and The Benzie County Players

Dress Rehearsal Wednesday November 27

Performances:
Saturday November 30 6:00pm
Sunday December 1 2:00pm

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is based on Robinson's best selling 1972 novel of the same name and was adapted for the stage by Robinson in 1982. Her engaging story drops us into a church struggling to put on their annual Christmas pageant after the director is hospitalized with a broken leg. In her absence the Herdmans, probably the worst kids in town, end up in the title roles and cause chaos in the rehearsal process. But will it end in disaster, or the most original Christmas pageant this small town has ever seen? Told through the eyes of a teen narrator and full of endearing familiar moments, this story gets the holiday season off to a great start.

“Christmas Celebration in Sweden: A Musical Lecture”
Presented by: Ingemar and Lisa Johansson

Join us for an afternoon lecture on the Christmas season in Sweden, featuring music and stories of past and current celebrations.

Ingemar and Lisa Johansson live the good life in the rolling hills of Northern Michigan. They dwell in a rich wellspring of influence, soul, and sound craft with their music. They have toured widely as a duo and as Song of the Lakes members.  Ingemar writes his songs with the muse of the natural world in his pocket. His voice and strings, guitar, and Swedish nyckelharpa hold solid earth rhythms and melodies with an introspective and poetic verse. The interplay with Lisa’s artistry on her flutes in the vein of baroque, blues, and rock with a twist of scandal-Celtic flair is savory and refined like a good Swedish aquavit.

Benzonia Area Community Emergency Fund Concert
Mills Community House Association

Performers: The Nephews with Marlene Wood

Venue: Mills Community House, Upper Level (2)
Date: Sunday, December 15th
Time: 4:00-6:00

FREE ADMISSION

The Nephews play mostly old songs, in the old time country and country Blues traditions. Byron and Tim Joseph, double first cousins (their mothers were sisters and their fathers were brothers) have been playing together in public performances for over sixty years. They share a repertoire of hundreds of songs which they harmonize and accompany on guitar, banjo and harmonica.  To paraphrase Abraham Lincoln, “For folks who like this sort of music, this is just the sort of music they will like”.

They are joined by Marlene Wood, singer and bassist, whom they affectionately call “Denise”.
