Beginner Dance Class
Classic Connection Dance $20 suggested donation Drop-ins welcome! Classic Connection Dance is a project to preserve and teach the core style of Western and American partner dancing traditions. Our primary emphases are on two elements: 1. Developing proper bio-mechanical and aesthetic principals. 2 . Establishing, strengthening and refining "connection", the non-verbal communication between dance partners. The primary style we teach is known in America simply as "Slow", or "Classic". It is relatively easy to learn, and very beautiful, on its own. However, by developing the core skills emphasized in our style, strong and elegant form, connection and technique can also flow very easily into other styles of dance. This can magnify dancers' performance and enjoyment, especially in traditional American dance styles, such as Swing and Blues. Patrick Kelly is the owner and head instructor of Classic Connection Dance. He was taught by the late Mykl Werth, a renowned dance teacher, researcher and scholar of historical dance technique. Patrick has over 15 years experience in partner dancing and teaching. He also has backgrounds in Tai-Chi, Yoga and stage combat. He has performed on stage, as well as in music videos and on film. |
